Redundancy Service

The surveillance solution containing standby NVR servers that are able to take over the recording process when the primary NVR is unreachable

Overview

What is Redundancy Service? There may be situations where the NVR server may become inaccessible, and the cameras have no recorder to send the video stream to. It could happen due to the network failure, data switch failure, power outage, human error or due to any other reasons. Even though such incidents are very unlikely to happen, the mission critical solutions should have a protection against that.

The seamless service can be achieved by using NVR Redundancy Service. It would ensure that whenever the original NVR is not accessible, the alternative system will immediately step in and start recording the video streams of the cameras belonging to the original NVR.

ACTi offers two kinds of Redundancy Service solutions: N+1 and N-to-N.

N+1 Redundancy N+1 Redundancy is the surveillance solution containing an additional idle NVR server that is capable of handling the cameras when the primary NVR is unreachable. Read More.

N-to-N Redundancy N-to-N Redundancy is the surveillance solution containing a group of NVR servers that in addition their primary recording tasks also help monitor each other and take over the recording task of the cameras of the unreachable NVR. Read More.

Solutions

The redundancy service is available for Windows-based NVR solutions, such as NVR 3 Corporate. There is no need for the additional software. The NVR 3 Corporate itself already contains all the necessary features to manage the redundancy. You only need to activate them by the licenses.
