What is Intrusion Protection?
Intrusion Protection in the physical surveillance industry is the set of mechanisms and methods to prevent or detect the intrusion to the restricted area or to the premises. Video surveillance is a significant part of the intrusion protection. The surveillance cameras nowadays can clearly capture the moment of the intrusion. Furthermore, most of these cameras are also able to detect the intrusion automatically and alert the security personnel.

What is Smart Intrusion Protection (SIP)?
The biggest challenge of the surveillance cameras is to distinguish true intrusion from the false alarms. Any object that would suddenly appear in the view of the camera is not necessarily an intrusion. The false alarms would be a burden for the security personnel and might eventually make them start ignoring the repeating alarms, which is dangerous.

The Smart Intrusion Protection is the AI-powered feature in ACTi's surveillance cameras which analyzes and recognizes the specific types of objects appearing in the whole view or in the predefined zone within the view of the camera. The camera would be able to know exactly whether the intruder was a person or not. It would not trigger an alarm when it sees a stray dog, for example.

Applications

Smart Intrusion Protection is used for the perimeter surveillance as well as for the indoor surveillance in the mission critical projects where the false alarms should be avoided and the intrusion should be detected with the highest possible accuracy.

Solutions

It is possible to use ACTi's Smart Intrusion Protection (SIP) cameras together with ACTi's ZNR-series NVR or with Windows-based NVR 3 servers. The VMS will receive the alerts from the cameras and handle the events by video pop-up, sound alert, sending an email alert and more.

Furthermore, some of the latest ZNR-series NVR servers have the built-in Smart Intrusion Protection capability - it is possible to use a regular surveillance camera without built-in AI and still enjoy the full protection of SIP thanks to the NVR-side AI capabilities.
