Overview

What is Auto Tracking?
Auto tracking is the camera's capability to detect a specific type of object, such as a person or a vehicle, and track it as the object moves within the view of the camera. The tracking process can be visualized for the operator by showing the bounding box around the tracked object. By tracking the object the camera can be sure that it is still the same object. This can be used, for example, to distinguish loitering or illegal stopping of a vehicle, etc.

What is PTZ Auto Tracking?
The fixed cameras can only track the objects while they are within the fixed view of the camera. When the person leaves the view of the camera then the tracking stops. In case of the modern PTZ cameras, the built-in AI not only tracks the person, but also commands the PTZ function to turn the camera whenever necessary in order to keep the tracked object within the view of the camera.

Applications

PTZ Auto Tracking is most often used in the locations where the motion activity is rare, such as restricted areas, or off-duty time periods of the business areas, such as factories, warehouses, utility plants and others.

When the vehicle or a person appears in the area, the PTZ camera can keep tracking that object continuously, to collect the video evidence without any interruptions.

Solutions

PTZ Auto Tracking is a camera-based feature that works regardless of the choice of VMS. Therefore, the ACTi's PTZ cameras with the tracking capabilities can be used with NVR 3, CMS 2, or INR, GNR, BNR, ZNR, LNR or ENR series standalone NVR servers.
