The benefit of this solution is the simplicity - there is no NVR required at all. The applications that could benefit from such simplicity are the temporary construction sites, small retail stores with low security risks.

Sometimes this solution is used in order to save the streaming bandwidth. The live view is not used, and the video recordings from the MicroSDXC card will be accessed when the incident occurred.

Introduction

Edge Recorder Client is a Windows-based client application software that does not require any NVR to be connected to. Edge Recorder Client (ERC) connects to the cameras directly and can display the live video feed as a grid on the monitor's screen. You can connect up to 2000 IP cameras to the ERC. It can also access and play back the recordings stored on the MicroSDXC cards inside the cameras.

Application

ERC with playback capability is a great choice when the NVR cannot be used due to management or other reasons. It is also used when the live view is costly due to the Internet bandwidth fees and the cameras are accessed only when the incidents occurred. In such cases, ERC can retrieve the vide evidence from the camera and play it back.
