What is a video channel?
Typically, a video channel of the NVR is either an IP camera, or an analog camera that transmits the video via IP video encoder device. The NVR would allocate the channel for each device. That channel can become a part of the view or layout in the NVR. Each channel can be recorded and the videos can be accessed later. In addition to the conventional surveillance cameras as channels, ACTi's NVR also supports both smartphones and webcams as video channels.
What is webcam as a channel?
The webcam that is plugged into the NVR server machine via USB cable can be selected as a source of a video channel of the NVR. This does not require any Ethernet at all.
