PTZ Control Definitions

PTZ Control Technologies:

  1. Optical PTZ Control Technology: Includes Absolute Positioning and Relative Positioning, which determine how the camera knows its direction or location in the real world.
  2. Digital PTZ Control Technology: Describes fixed position digital PTZ operations, which are carried out through software without any mechanical movement.

PTZ Control Interfaces:

  1. Hardware Control: Describes the use of hardware controls without a user interface, such as keyboard, joystick, and mouse wheel for PTZ control.
  2. Software Control: Describes how to manually control PTZ functions through software interfaces, such as using the mouse on video for panning, tilting, or zooming, and controlling through software buttons.

The arrows keys or the other keys of the keyboard can control its PTZ. When the video window has been selected, the joystick can control its PTZ. You can zoom in or out by using the mouse wheel. Use the on-screen buttons to adjust PTZ. Usually there is also a speed control. Drag the cursor from the center to any direction. The farther the drag, the faster Pan and Tilt. Clicking anywhere on the image will trigger Pan/Tilt to let that spot become the center. Draw a box on the top of the image to let the camera zoom into that spot. The small overlay image is the full view and the large view is the zoomed-in image. Goes to the pre-defined pan, tilt, zoom and focus position. Switches between preset points with dwell time in-between. Pans left and right certain amount of steps, or endlessly in one direction.
