Mask Detection

Detect a person wearing or not wearing a facial mask.

Ogólne

What is Mask Detection?
Mask Detection is the surveillance system's ability to use the video analytics to determine whether the person is wearing a protective mask or not.

Most commonly, the mask detection process occurs inside the ACTi's IP camera, but some of the ZNR-series NVR servers are also able to do the mask detection.

Types of Masks
The AI is able to detect disposable surgical masks with various color options (blue, purple, white, black, red, green), and N95-style masks (black, white).

Note that the mask colors that may resemble the skin tones are typically not supported, such as beige, pink, brown and other skin tones, in other to avoid false positive or false negative alerts.

Zastosowanie

In some locations the masks are required for hygiene reasons, such as restaurants. The owner of the restaurant might insist that the kitchen staff would wear mask at all times whiles being in the kitchen.

Some locations, such as hospitals or special labs, also require visitors to wear masks.

During the pandemic, the mask requirements may extend to various locations, including schools, airports, governmental and commercial buildings, retail stores and more.

There may also be the opposite situations where wearing a mask should gain the attention of the security team, such as entering the bank wearing the mask, which makes the indentification of the person difficult.

Rozwiązania

It is possible to use ACTi's Mask Detection cameras together with ACTi's ZNR-series NVR or with Windows-based NVR 3 servers. The VMS will receive the wearing-mask or non-wearing-mask alerts from the cameras and handle the events by video pop-up, sound alert, sending an email alert and more.

Furthermore, some of the latest ZNR-series NVR servers have the built-in Mask Detection capability - it is possible to use a regular surveillance camera without built-in AI and still run the mask detection thanks to the NVR-side AI capabilities.
