Background
Delta State in Nigeria is synonymous with high crime rate, and kidnapping is most notable in the Niger Delta. Therefore, residents take every conceivable precaution to prevent attack against themselves and their family.
Solution
Within such a private house, ACTi’s partner, Esimi Technical Systems, a leading systems integrator in the region installed a total of 18 pieces of ACM-1231 Megapixel IP Bullet Cameras providing blanket coverage of the entire property within the walled compound, as well as all approach roads to the property. In addition, further 5 pieces of ACM-3401 Megapixel IP Fixed Dome Cameras with audio were installed in the waiting rooms and visiting rooms.
Benefit
Since PTZ cameras are not permanently manned, it was not considered as an appropriate solution. Thus, ACM-3401 was chosen to provide the stable recording and high quality image. These cameras were all installed in the important rooms to guard the owner’s property day and night.
All cameras were connected to one high performance 3.2 GHz PC with 4TB hard disk which located in the communications room of the house. ACTi’s open platform works well with the iCatcher Domain Software, the whole system provides superb flexibility and ease of use. In order to have the total control of guarding, one permanent client workstation with of two display monitors were located in the main bedroom of the house.
Further access and control of IP cameras is available through Internet Explorer by using laptops and iPhones via Wi-Fi network. Using VGA amplifiers and extenders along with CAT 5 cable, video is also available on other 5 large flat screen televisions throughout the house.
The successful implementation of this surveillance system has subsequently lead to further similar installations in the region, both in private houses and commercial offices.
