ACTi IP Video Solution Helps to Control Parcel Distribution Quality for A Logistic Center in Vilnius, Lithuania
A European-based logistics company just built up a new terminal in Vilnius. To improve quality control and security of parcel distribution in terminal, they needed to monitor parcel way from incoming point to outcoming point for delivery. They divided requirement to three parts - one to secure terminal main territory for outside protection; second to monitor parcel distributing technology line at the inside of the terminal; and third one to take picture of every incoming and outcoming parcel and link with parcel number barcode.
UAB “Pažangių technologijų prekyba”, ACTi’s official distributor in Lithuania, with help of ACTi, has successfully offered them an integrated IP video surveillance solution.
In first part of project, there were 11pcs of ACM-1231 outdoor IP bulled cameras. Main reason to choose this model was that cameras are true day/night function and have IR LEDs for extra illumination, which help to save expenses for common territory lightning. All recordings of outside cameras are made in Duo core 5TB server running ACTi NVR enterprise software. All servers are allocated in secure server room. Security’s company’s guard monitors these cameras remotely by using ACTi NVR workstation which is run in guard PC located in control post. All cameras are connected to HP Procurve PoE Ethernet switch. To access ACTi NVR servers and cameras, the main camera’s switch is connected to company’s backbone network and is separated using VLAN tagging. Using VLAN technology, their network virtually separated from video surveillance IP network. This technology helped to utilize the same network infrastructure for both application data and video surveillance networks.
In second part of project there were ACM-5601 and ACM-5711 cameras with LEN-205 lenses. Cameras are monitoring parcel distribution technology line to control and check parcels way from incoming gate to delivery car. If parcel is lost, the administrative staff can always check when and how the mistake was made and how to improve service quality. To monitor large parts of technology line, ACM-5601 megapixel box camera is used; for fast moving parts, ACM-5711 is used.

Third part of project was integration of 6pcs ACM-5711 over scanning work places with the logistic center’s barcode readers. Main requirement was to find parcel picture in database using barcode number. To integrate barcode readers with existing ACM-5711 cameras was written special software application to gather data from both system and store in database. The supervisor can always check parcel condition on requirement.
