Background 
The police of Cassino was planning on an integrated urban security to monitor the anti-social behavior and increase the safety of all citizens and tourists. They decided ACTi solution by the professional consultancy from the system integrator and strong technical support from the distributor DATA LAB Sas.
Solution
This solution was totally based on IP, including of 12 units of KCM-5211E, 10 units of TCM-5311, and a QNAP NVR. All 22 cameras are installed outdoor monitoring important places in the city, such as main traffic intersection, public buildings and residential areas. Videos are transferred to the server located in city police station via wireless.
Benefit
ACTi’s cameras perfectly matched the following key points for city surveillance:1. High resolution to capture details
Buildings, moving vehicles, walking people...etc composed the main elements in the video. Thus a high resolution is needed to provide sufficient data for identifying exceptional situation and abnormal behavior by digital zoom in. KCM-5211E is with 4 Megapixel resolution, but the bandwidth and storage size were well under control with H.264 compression.
2. Crystal clear image even under low light and totally dark condition
Complicated lighting environment is another feature of city surveillance. TCM-5311 is with CCD sensor, DC iris, and a shutter speed of 1/100,000 second. As for KCM-5211E, it is even embedded with IR LED and three adaptive profiles on ISP to provide clear image in both day and night time.
3. Cameras to cover large distance
In city surveillance, the monitoring area is usually wide while the budget is always limited. In this case, KCM-5211E is one of the best solutions. With 18X optical zoom, one single camera can cover the distance of 150 meters. Fast and accurate autofocus brings huge advantage not only in easy installation, but also in the setup of preset points.
