ACTi and its local business partner, Afroluso II has recently installed a successful security system in 2 big shopping malls in Portugal. This project was specified for a competitor of ACTi’s but then decided to use ACTi as the final camera provider. The reason that the end user chose ACTi as the camera provider was due to its superior advantage at product quality with an attractive price offering. The choice of using ACTi IP Cameras resulted in the increasing quantity of the cameras to make the whole system more reliable yet without extra budget expenditures.
There was a need for a hybrid solution because some of the specified cameras were analog cameras (Speed-Domes for parking surveillance). But once again, ACTi turned out to be an ideal manufacturer because of its ability of offering complete product categories, including video servers and decoders. To migrate the analogue signals into IP-based system, ACTi ACD-2100 is perfect for this case.
The selected cameras for this project are:
- 38 units of ACM-3311P (mini-dome) and 13 units of CAM-6500P (speed-dome) for the shopping mall gallery.
- 17 units of ACM-7411 (Megapixel mini-dome) and 6 units of ACM-5711P (box camera) for technical corridors of the shopping mall.
- 20 units of ACD-2100P (Video Server) for the parking to convert analog signals from the speed domes to the control room.
The installation was based on a distributed network, dedicated and build for the CCTV system. On each floor (5 floors in total), one 24x10/100 PoE and two Gigabit Port switches were connected to a central switch (full gigabit ports and connections) that feeds the NVR Servers and Workstations. All cameras (except Video Servers) are PoE powered.
For recording solution, four x 32 channels NVR servers with 3TB storage capability per server were installed. The software partner selected was AVermedia that also established a partnership with ACTi to continue integrating the new cameras and products.
In conclusion, after the startup, the system was running on testing stage for 2 weeks before enter on normal working period, the customers are very satisfied with the video quality offered by ACTi products. Once again, the result just proves that choosing the unified solution from ACTi is a “wise decision”.
