Telefónica is a leading private company in the telecommunications market, listed on the main international stock exchanges and headquarters located in Spain. With a presence in 24 countries, Telefónica Group employs an average of 249,000 people and provides services to more than 233 million customers.

To deliver a work culture change and concentrate all business units, Telefónica embarked on an ambitious project known as "C District or City of Telecommunication" which resulted in the new Telefónica headquarters. This corporate city, which houses over 12,000 employees, was built on an area of 200,000 square meter located north Madrid:  4 internal districts North, South, East and West, 8 four-story buildings, 4 ten-story buildings, 1 corporate building, car park for 5,700 vehicles, commercial area, restaurants, gym, healthcare.

Facing these impressive figures, TIS (Telefónica Security Engineering), based on its Integral Technology Security approach, led the integration of this huge venture for which empowered ACTi and Scati Labs.

Scati Labs, ACTi's local partner, designed an innovative security project where over 1200 units of SED-2100 (ACTi Video Server) proved essential to secure this huge and challenging environment. Besides, Scati Labs NVR's were deployed in several control rooms across the facility and in one central control centre.

The main features of this project consist of:
1. IP surveillance solution: Best video surveillance option to meet environment requirements.
2. High performance network video recording.
3. Comprehensive system management from multiple locations.
4. Video analytics: Use of video analytics software to control critical issues on facility perimeter.
5. System Integration: Complete integrationof surveillance solution with third-party systems such as access control and intrusion detection.

Rubén Marta Loriente, the Marketing Manager in Scati Labs said, "ACTi video server is the key for the successful implementation of IP surveillance solution since over 1200 video servers (ACTi SED-2100) were installed to upgrade analogue cameras into IP-based cameras. Besides, ACTi MPEG-4 compression provides D1 resolution at 25 frames per second and employs low bandwidth and storage size. Lastly, this product makes it possible to easily integrate with different types of existing analogue PTZ cameras in this project."

Scati Labs video management software provides professional security functions, such as video intelligence and local and global supervision of the entire headquarters. This software is integrated with all range of ACTi products.
