Background
Science City, the largest science center in the sub-continent, under the National Council of Science Museums, consists of two facilities, the Science Center and the Convention Center.

The Science Center complex comprises Space Odyssey, Dynamotion, Evolution Theme Park, Maritime Center and a Science Park. The Convention Center complex comprises the Grand Theater (2232 seating capacity), one Mini Auditorium (392 seating capacity) and a Seminar hall building with 11 halls ranging from 15 to 100 seating capacity, indoor (270sq.m.) and open air exhibition ground (20000 sq. m). The Convention Center of Science City is one of the most outstanding destinations for conventions, meetings, company AGMs and cultural programs.

Solution
In 2011, Science city starts to integrate their existing analog surveillance system with ACTi’s IP Surveillance system. System integrator Cognitive Technologies was chosen for this project for their professional experiences in system integration. The first phase, they  start to upgrade their current system in 8 square kilometer campus of Science City. ACTi’s various product lines provide the flexibility for customer to integrate their existing system with new technology. That’s why ACTi is always the ideal brand when needing a hybrid solution.

Science City Solution composed of 10 units of ACTi TCM-1231, 3 units of ACM-8511, 1 unit of CAM-6510, 1 unit of ACM-8211 and 5 units of ACD-2100. In order to combine existing infrastructure, 5 unit of ACD-2100 were connected to each of  analog camera and  convert analog signal to digital signal. The analog videos from the analog camera were encoded into MPEG-4 video streams and sent across the wire/wireless IP network to the central surveillance station. NAS storage facility was also integrated into the system architecture to effectively manage large storage capacity.


Benefit
By installing ACTi’s video encoders, Science City was able to establish an IP surveillance system combining existing analog cameras and new IP cameras. Furthermore, the flexibility of expansion is another reason for Science City to choose ACTi. The phase two of this project is still going on and ACTi’s free NVR channel licenses facilitate end user to expand their current scale of IP surveillance system more easily.
