ACTi’s Polish distributor – FEN and System Integrator – Infonet provided ACTi cameras and Alnet Systems software for this project. Monitoring of Rescue Unit by the primary unit of the State, Fire Brigade in Bytów, when dispatch the crew into rescue action. Dispatcher of State Fire Brigade in Bytów must have possibility to remotely view facility by the cameras after the crew dispatch from Miastko. For example, checking all crew left the unit for action or if the facility is properly closed (the gate) prior to unauthorized access from outside.
The image is recorded continuously on the local recording server for 6 cameras, based on the motion detection. Video recording was carried out by using PC software, Alnet VDRS Professional, which allows authorized persons to access the preview and on-line archive of both computers in Fire-Fighting Unit of Bytów and Miastko. Another possibility to access video server is using phones running on the Symbian platform S60, such as Nokia N95.
In the Fire-Fighting Unit in Miastko , upload bandwidth was raised up to 1Mb, to enable faster picture transfers. Simultaneously, the frame rate is 3 frames per second in order to limit network bandwidth required by monitoring system. All cameras equipped with infrared LEDs, allow viewing and recording images in the dark (the camera will automatically switch to black and white mode).
The installation was made with 4 ACTi ACM-1431 Outdoor IP IR Bullet Cameras (mounted outside) and 2 ACTi ACM-1511 Megapixel Indoor IP IR Bullet Cameras (mounted inside) in PoE technology for cable category 5e, which saves resources and cuts cost by using one of ETH cable pairs for power supply. The appearance of such installation is much more professional (lack of local power suppliers to power cameras); along with Alnet software, it is also easier in maintenance and manage. An additional advantage is central power (from the PoE switch) that can be easily equipped with an emergency power supply unit, like UPS, which is planned in the next stage of installation. Megapixel cameras were installed inside the building in order to acquire best picture quality. The main reason for using megapixel cameras is possible to enlarge images in emergency situations, obtaining clarification of the items.
IP addresses of cameras and recorders are set to static mode in order to prevent accidental change of equipment addressing, and interruptions in image recording.
Recording mode is configured according to the following procedure: when hard disk is full system will delete oldest recordings automatically, making space for new recordings.
Recorder is also configured to achieve tolerance for power failures, when PC is restarted, it will automatically start recording software.
Attached pictures are sample images from cameras installed in the Miastko fire-fighting brigade facility.
