ACTi IP Cameras and Genetec help secure National Meteorological Center of Casablanca, Morocco

ACTi MPEG-4 IP cameras have been deployed in 2007 to improve security in the National Meteorological Center in Casablanca, Morocco. Bridge Engineering, local solution partner of ACTi has designed and installed the integrated, IP-based video surveillance system and is overseeing its continued expansion.

The site requires an upgrade of security system for a more efficient and powerful surveillance and management. ACTi MPEG-4 IP cameras and Genetec Omnicast Security Management Software are chosen by Bridge Engineering, the system integrator, to offer an integrated solution between access control and video, helping secure the site's most important room. The national meteorological center has the biggest computer room in the Kingdom. They chose to secure it with two cameras and access control, making it twice as hard to access and easy to monitor all activities in and out of the room.

The overall security control is also done by access control, video confirmation and archives. ACTi IP box Day & Night cameras, CAM-5320P, are installed on strategic locations both inside the meteorological center and at outside entrances and in the parking lot, allowing three simultaneous viewers, to access the system from three different locations in the facility. For the second phase of the project, Bridge Engineering is installing an external ACTi IP speed dome connected to an infrared intruder alarm solution that will turn the speed dome to the breached area once alarm is triggered.

Key to the installation was ACTi's excellent MPEG-4 compression technology, which significantly reduced the bandwidth and storage required, as compared to regular M-JPEG CCTV technology, while offering superior image clarity and coverage. General Manager from Bridge Engineering commented, "The Meteorological Center love the ACTi MPEG-4image quality after theysaw the demo, and think that the ACTi cameras give them the image quality they want and at the right total investment-it's the best of both worlds. In the design and final choice of cameras, MPEG-4 technology showed very favorably in terms of cost/benefit."

"The Meteorological Center of Casablanca is an excellent demonstration of how ACTi IP cameras offer better image quality with less bandwidth and storage consumption at a lower cost for the end user," said Sophie Ko, ACTi Territory Sales Manager.  "ACTi is committed to continuing to deliver superior value and performance."
