Sailing south along the west cost of Italy, Marina di Acciaroli is an enchanting destination for tourists, travelers and sea lovers. Surrounded by cultural treasures, historical heritage and natural beauty, its waters have been awarded as one of the most pure and sharp within Italian coasts, recalling guests from anywhere and becoming a well-known bathing resort.

A strong public program has recently inaugurated a new season for Marina di Acciaroli, dealing with the redevelopment of the old harbor and with the construction of new moorings, sites to be assigned to shops or offices and new special services for tourists and fishermen.

This program included also the deployment of an advanced video surveillance system for the public safety and goods protection within the harbor area.  The project involved the use of fourteen ACTi megapixel cameras along with the video management software Video. The server station is located at a central office where one 5Ghz Wi-Fi HiperLan base station is equipped with two 90 degrees antennas and creates a 180 degrees wireless campus, enabling the connection to all the installed cameras trough a point-to-multipoint wireless system.

All the cameras were outdoor mounted and displaced along the harbor pier. For this project have been used ten ACTi ACM-5611 megapixel cameras combined with wide angle lenses and IP66 aluminum enclosures. The use of megapixel resolutions allowed monitoring the whole area with only 14 cameras at the same detailed quality of 20 analogue cameras. Furthermore, the combination of megapixel IP cameras with wireless client antennas makes possible to connect any IP camera to a wireless video system, highly reducing cabling issues and costs. The use of wide angle lenses was meant to widen up fields of view, performing a constant control on the docks and ensuring a high level protection to people and ships.

Four units of ACTi pan tilt megapixel ACM-8211 cameras complete the project delivering a total overview of the surrounding areas near the harbor.

After the success of this project and the satisfaction expressed by the local authorities and law enforcements, it’s already planned to expand the new video surveillance system to other areas of the town. This is only possible because of the high scalability offered by an IP surveillance system.
