Background
Blanchard Security was hired by Mac’s convenience store owner Akram Qaryzada for the installation ACTi megapixel cameras in order to help dealing with the store’s ongoing shrinkage problems. After discovering $ 1,500 worth of shrinkage in one month, he decided to follow through with the ACTi camera installation proposed by Blanchard Security of Campbell River, BC.
Solution
Blanchard Security installed 5 TCM-4201 megapixel cube cameras. 2 of the 5 cameras are equipped with the PLEN0201 lenses in order to achieve a wider field and to help eliminate some of the store’s blind spots.
“One of the challenges of this particular installation is the orientation of the store aisles” Marc Blanchard, Owner of Blanchard Security. “Because they run diagonally, there are certain areas that are difficult to see from the till. We discovered the thieves’ favorite stealing spots and then placed our cameras to strategically cover those areas”
Shortly after the system was installed it was quickly apparent to Akram the amount of stealing happening within his store. “I found out that some of the customers were stealing regularly from the shelves.” says Akram. “They were stealing from me and smiling at the same time!”
Akram now realizes that the inventory shrinkage is not staff related, and that he can trust his current staff. Having an ACTi megapixel system has created a much more secure atmosphere and provides the management with a highly effective tool to curtail theft and eliminate problem customers.
“This system will pay for itself! It’s just a matter of time.” Akram Qaryzada.
