As the pioneer utilizing network video technology in environmental application in Inner Mongolian Autonomic Region in China, Oerhtossu successfully built up a network video monitoring system to enhance industrial pollution control.
This network video monitoring system is part of a government program which aims to strengthen pollution source management, costing around three hundred thousand US dollars. The main job of this system is to perform the live-view of a number of manufacturing plants in different remote locations and 24-hour video recording. 
The reason why network video technology was chosen is that the CCTV video security system is not able to fulfill the demand for multiple-site, remote, real-time video transmission, which can only be done by using network video technology. However, not all the network video devices can endure the harsh weather in the Mongolian area-especially the huge temperature difference between seasons and between day and night time.
ACTi's ACD-2100T, SED-2120T video server and SED-3320 decoder by showing their high capability of working in extended temperature ranges, distinguished themselves from competitive models and were chosen to undertake the job. 86 video servers (ACD-2100T/SED-2120T) were deployed at remote sites to convert analog video into digital form and transmit the digital video back to the central station through the network. 18 decoders (SED-3320) were set up in the central station to convert the digital video back into analog and patrol play the video of several channels on the TV wall.
In addition to ACTi hardware, ACTi NVR is used to play the real-time video on the screen, record video of all channels and playback the stored video.
The system enables the government staff to see everything at remote industrial spots to control pollution sources. The recorded video serves as evidence to prove the manufacturing plants are causing the pollution and prevents it from happening again. ACTi solution is a great tool to help environmental protection.
