Being a part of a nation's transportation centers, the duty free shop attracts countless number of customers on a daily basis.  Yet, to the manager's frustration, goods inevidably become missing at the end of the day, many times due to shoplifting.  Therefore, the security of goods displayed at the shop becomes a top priority for the store manager.

Ever Rich Duty Free has a total of four outlets at the TaoYuan International Airport.

Each store is located at different a site and are far apart from one another, and from the store manager's office.  Due to the long distance, the video surveillance syetem at the office must acquire video from via Ethernet.  ACTi’s IP surveillance solution is the best for such requirement.  

Like many businesses, Ever Rich Duty Free have used DVR solution before.  However, the management is not satisfied with the video quality, which is only CIF resolution, and its extremely low frame rate at only 3 FPS via Ethernet.  The lack of video quality also makes it impossible to track movements for monitoring.  Fortunately, with ACTi’s Full D1/ 30 FPS@1.2 Mbps video performance, the manager became very comfortable to authorize the upgrade to ACTi equipment.  The new system uses SED-2120's DIO funnction, incorporating an IR sensor to the DI; when the system detects intrusion past 12:00am when the store is closed, it alerts the manager immediately for countermeasures.

After switching to ACTi's IP solution, Ever Rich's store manager has effectively prevented the shoplifters both internally and externally.  In fact, the store manager is satisfied enough to plan for more upgrades in the upcoming year, using the outstanding ACTi solution.
