Background
The business activities of Xortec, based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, include the design of network concepts and consulting for any kind of IT and video surveillance solutions in Europe. They provide the full range of technical support including system integration, hotline support, on-site maintenance and training.
For a worldwide leading elevator company ACTi provided a security solution in three residential buildings with up to 17 floors in northern Frankfurt. They not only provide additional security for the residents, but they are also an important part of the emergency plan during potential technical problems of the elevator.
Solution
The camera of choice was the ACTi ACM-3411. This camera is offering a detailed 1.3 megapixel picture and a discreet dome housing fitting small space elevator environment. As a recording solution the KOUKAAM IPCorder KNR-090 was chosen – with its small size and seamless working with all ACTi cameras a good choice for elevator projects. The recorder is stored in the elevator engine room and manages two cameras in two elevators per building. The Ethernet transmission is integrated directly into the elevator electric circuit via industrial power line, so no additional network cable infrastructure had to be installed.
With 6 units of ACM-3411 constantly monitoring elevators the safety of the three Frankfurt residence buildings is greatly enhanced. With recordings of potential incidents like vandalism the alleged criminals can also be identified in the future.
