Maisel SudParis is a non-profit making association governed by the law of July 1st 1901, the main mission of which is to provide accommodation for students from the two French prestige university-level schools, « Telecom SudParis » and « Telecom Ecole de Management », formerly known as National Institute of Telecoms (INT).

 

The school campus is located in Evry in the south suburbs of Paris, where the

Maisel SudParis patrimony is around 700 dorms in 6 buildings ; 5 of them are located in the campus and the 6th one in the center of Evry, a 15-minute walk far from the campus ; the 6 buildings covers single rooms, studios, flats, common living areas (kitchens, dining rooms, laundries, meeting rooms).

 

The very first argument for equipping the dorms buildings with a video surveillance system was to fight against vandalism acts committed upon equipments of common life areas such as furniture, drink machines; or upon safety equipments like extinguishers, fire detectors, safety displays, bagging devices. The video surveillance system, once implemented, will highly decrease the crime rate, and therefore serves as an important consideration for students when it comes to the decision of choosing which school to live in.

 

The installation was carried out from February 2009 to February 2010. Considering the multi-site surveillance requirements for the 6 buildings, a dedicated and reliable professional IP cameras and NVR system is the prerequisite of this project. The whole system involves 106 ACTi vandal proof Megapixel IP MPEG-4 fixe Domes, ACM-7411; all located inside the Maisel SudParis buildings on a dedicated network, where the links between buildings are made with optical fiber. Recording and management was successfully done by ACTi NVR Enterprise 2.2 version software (two 64ch licenses) and with NAS servers due to the large quantity of video data to be saved.

 

ACTi local distributor, SOTELI, with a strong IT background, has chosen SINGULAR, their IT integrator partner, as the solution provider for this project. SINGULAR solution is very flexible since the project could be build step by step which was fundamental in the project specifications. ACTI NVR Enterprise and Megapixel camera products were chosen for its high-quality performance and the numerous features.
