The management team was looking for a good solution that the headquarters can remotely monitor and supervise the daily operation of each store. They found ACTi provides the best solution to conduct this project by installing ACTi video server, ACD-2100, in each optical store.

"Professional knowledge with excellent customer service" is the motto of Haur Chang optical Co Ltd., which makes Haur Charg to grow up from one store in Kaohsiung to 40 stores scattered in the middle and south of Taiwan. With ACTi's video surveillance solution, a customer service analyst in headquarter is able to view shop operation, employees' service performance, and the flow of customers remotely. With video information, he comes out the best practice of service pattern from those top stores and mentors those stores with low revenue in order to improve their service quality.

Video server, ACD-2100, was chosen because most of these chain stores already have analogue cameras. Each store has one PC to run POS system and 256K bandwidth through ADSL. With existing infrastructure, Haur Chang only needed to spend little cost on ACD-2100 to complete this big project. Besides improving over-all operation performance, such IP system can record video at night as security system, which deployed as recording in local PC and live video for central monitoring.

Haur Chang chose ACTi ACD-2100 because it provides good video quality under such low bandwidth at 256K over internet. 256K is the most common offer from Hinet and increasing bandwidth means a lot of cost because there are 40 stores affected. With 256K, ACTi provides the best performance/price ratio. It sets to D1, 5 fps at 256K bit rate. No matter for local recording or remote monitoring, Haur Chang uses ACTi bundled software ACTivator to achieve their goals.

The installation of first 15 sites is finished. Haur Chang is very satisfied with the quality and performance of ACD-2100.and planing to extend it to the rest chain stores.
