ACTi is very pleased to announce that ACTi's video servers have been selected to be used along with OmnicastTM, Genetec's IP Video Surveillance Solution, as part of the security system for the GSA-PS Contract 07-7-13 that will secure the agencies, public corporations and municipalities of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
The Security Engineering Consortium, an ACTi certified integrator, was awarded a contract by the General Services Administration of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (GSA-PR), as an official supplier of IP Video Surveillance Solutions to secure 147 agencies and public corporations as well as the 78 municipalities of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Some of the key organizations included in the contract are the Puerto Rico Police Department, Departments of Health, Public Utilities, and the University of Puerto Rico. The first 150 units of ACTi SED-2120 (single channel MPEG-4 video server) are for 5 municipalities where they will be used for Traffic Management and
Neighborhood Watch. The total number of channels of IP video for this project is estimated to be 5,000 over the next three years.
ACTi's video servers were selected for their ability to deliver high quality smooth MPEG-4 D1 resolution video at 30fps consuming exceptionally low bandwidth – it is best suited for transmission over wireless networks. ACTi's video servers also offered the freedom of working with any conventional analog PTZ cameras with any control protocols transmitted via standard RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485.
"We are thrilled to have partnered with ACTi Corporation and its state-of-the-art video encoding technology as one of our key core suppliers for the GSA-PR contract. ACTi'sseamless integration and plug-and-play compatibility with other key technologies components of the engineered solution, was instrumental in having the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico entrust us with the great responsibility of providing IP-security tools to provide better public safety for the people of Puerto Rico..." stated Abelardo A. Tous, Chief Executive Officer of the Security Engineering Consortium.
The implementation of this multi-site security project will begin in early 2007 and will continue until 2008.
