ACTi’s video servers and Aimetis software helped the well-known manufacturer, Tan Chong Industrial
Equipment Sdn. Bhd. (TCIE) upgrade into IP Surveillance. This largest manufacturer of vehicles worked with CT Mind Sdn Bhd and EKTECH Consulting Sdn Bhd to implement their IP Surveillance System.
TCIE is a subsidiary of public-listed Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd, the authorized distributor for Nissan Motor Japan Vehicles in Malaysia since 1978. TCIE has made Nissan Diesel Trucks and Buses in Malaysia with more than 10,000 units in operations. TCIE keeps the new vehicles in versatile car yards throughout Malaysia so they requested a robust surveillance to protect those new vehicles. Typically the car yards are very large. A lot of vehicles stored in the large yards but there are only several security guards arranged for patrolling in those yards. It’s very difficult for them to cover the entire area so surveillance equipments are deployed for monitoring and recording. On the other hand, IP Surveillance architecture also allows TCIE headquarters to do remote monitoring.

There are approximately eight to sixteen cameras installed for each yard. They use ACTi’s video servers, SED-2120 and SED-2300Q for upgrading those cameras into IP-based cameras. Video streams are able to be transmitted via internet. In TCIE Headquarters, Aimetis Aira IP video surveillance software manages the images from ACTi models, SED-2120 and SED-2300Q. All the video is recorded in the headquarters centrally. They requested 6 frames per second with high resolution video quality but their bandwidth is very limited. With ACTi’s equipments, it only requires 384kps to get clear image. Furthermore, TCIE is satisfied with the video quality ACTi offered.

"IP Surveillance architecture helped us a lot because there is no control room in every car yard. If we used DVR system, it’s not secured when break-ins. The DVRs are easy been stolen when thieves steal into the yards. Currently IP Surveillance enables remote monitoring and centralized recording in our main office so we don’t need to worry about theft issues. Meanwhile we are very satisfied with the video quality from all the remote sites." said Mr David Siew, the Chief Financial Officer at Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn. Bhd.
